What We Offer

Adoption Process for Our Vermont Adopters

Through years of experience we have developed a tried and true adoption process devoted to matching the correct puppy with their adopter family. We are strong advocates of thoroughly understanding the adopter family dynamic and preferences and guiding each family in the selection process. Successful adoptions are never accidents and ensuring the bulldog puppy and their family are compatible matches is essential.

Steps of Our Adoption Process

1. First Email and Then Verbal Interview – Traditional adoption questionnaires have represented the typical standard for dog breeders when assessing potential adopters, but we’ve learned about their limits over the years. Most interested parties, regardless of their actual suitability, can easily supply the “correct” responses on paper. Meaningful evaluation requires a more individualized touch that extends further than what any preset questionnaire can offer. This is the very reason why, as English Bulldog breeders, we prioritize genuine conversations over the phone with our prospective families. Throughout our conversation, we’ll discuss aspects including your daily habits, household structure, prior pet ownership, and your desires for a companion to evaluate whether one of our Bruiser Bulldogs would prosper in your environment.

2. Deposit – We require a non-refundable $500 deposit to join our wait list for the next English Bulldog puppy available.

3. Choosing your English Bulldog Puppy – When an adopter reaches the top of our wait list, we initiate the puppy selection process. Before making any decisions, we’ll provide photos of all available English Bulldog puppies along with detailed phone discussions about each pup’s unique temperament and characteristics (our personality assessment process is outlined below). We will explain each prospective companion’s distinctive personality features, preferences, and special qualities, helping you assess their alignment with your family dynamics. While your household maintains complete authority over the decision, we pledge to provide expert guidance and recommendations throughout this important selection journey.

*English Bulldog Puppy Personality Assessment – To ensure we create the perfect match between each bulldog puppy and their forever family, we must first thoroughly understand each individual puppy’s unique temperament. Our personality assessment involves extensive one-on-one time with each puppy, carefully observing their energy patterns, social behaviors, and natural tendencies. This comprehensive evaluation process cannot be rushed and requires puppies to reach 4-5 weeks of age before we can accurately assess their distinct personalities. While some adopters prefer to select their puppy as early as 2 weeks old, we respectfully decline these requests. Early selection without proper temperament evaluation is counterproductive and can lead to mismatched pairings, as adopters would be choosing their English Bulldog companion without understanding their future pet’s true nature and needs.

4. Puppy Prep – When an adopter has been successfully paired with one of our English Bulldog puppies, we initiate our extensive puppy preparation and training protocol. Each new owner receives comprehensive support resources and detailed care information tailored to promote the healthiest transition for their Green Mountain State bulldog. For our Vermont adopters, we offer flexible arrangement options including our puppy delivery service, where a member of our family will bring your new pup directly to your home. Alternatively, many adopters prefer to visit our home for pickup, allowing for valuable time to address New England climate considerations and harsh winter preparation requirements specific to Vermont’s mountain conditions. Whether through in-person consultations or thorough telephone support, we’re committed to supporting every Vermont family’s success with their new companion.

Vermont Specific Advice From A Lifelong Bulldog Breeder

Top Vet: Riverside Veterinary Care & Dental Services (Rutland & Ludlow)

Full-service care including urgent/emergency care—with AAHA accreditation and modern facilities.

Top Bulldog Trainer: Off the Beaten Trail Canine Facility (Newark, VT)

Led by Jeff & Gillian Scarpino, this facility offers private lessons, boarding, daycare, and a strong relationship-focused training approach. While they specialize in larger breeds, their emphasis on balanced, individualized behavior programming makes them a great fit for stubborn and sensitive breeds like English Bulldogs.

– Shelburne Bay Park (Shelburne, VT)- Bulldogs can stroll on leash, sniff along forest edges, and cool off by the water. A flat, shaded loop trail (~1.5 miles) with lake views and picnic spots.

– Dog Mountain (St. Johnsbury)- Very bulldog-friendly with benches and water stations. A must-visit for dog lovers. Off-leash mountain meadows, ponds, and forest trails on 150+ acres. Home to the Dog Chapel, a peaceful memorial spot. Great place for calm social dogs or solo exploring.

2. Downtown Exploring & Bulldog-Friendly Patios:
