Adoption Process for Our Virginia Adopters

1. Verbal Interview – Adoption questionnaires have served as the established tool for dog breeders to evaluate prospective adopters, though we’ve identified their limitations through years of experience. Most hopeful adopters, whether truly compatible or not, can smoothly deliver the “right” answers on a written form. True assessment necessitates a more customized approach that transcends what any standardized questionnaire can capture. This is exactly why, as respected English Bulldog breeders, we focus on genuine conversations over the phone with our potential families. During our call, we’ll cover topics like your daily activities, family environment, past animal companionship, and what you envision for a furry friend to decide if one of our Bruiser Bulldogs would thrive in your care.

2. Deposit – We require a non-refundable $500 deposit to join our wait list for the next English Bulldog puppy available.

3. Choosing your English Bulldog Puppy – When an adopter reaches the top of our wait list, we initiate the puppy selection process. Before making any decisions, we’ll provide photos of all available English Bulldog puppies along with detailed phone discussions about each pup’s unique temperament and characteristics (our personality assessment process is outlined below). We’ll thoroughly discuss each potential puppy’s unique attributes, behavioral tendencies, and distinctive characteristics, helping you determine their suitability for your lifestyle. Although the ultimate selection belongs solely to your family, we’re devoted to offering knowledgeable counsel and insights throughout your decision-making process.

*English Bulldog Puppy Personality Assessment – Perfect bulldog adoptions require detailed insight into each puppy’s unique personality traits and behavioral development patterns. We invest considerable time in temperament evaluation, carefully observing each puppy’s natural expressions, interaction styles, and individual characteristics. This comprehensive evaluation process cannot be rushed and requires puppies to reach 4-5 weeks of age before we can accurately assess their distinct personalities. While some adopters prefer to select their puppy as early as 2 weeks old, we respectfully decline these requests. Early selection without proper temperament evaluation is counterproductive and can lead to mismatched pairings, as adopters would be choosing their English Bulldog companion without understanding their future pet’s true nature and needs.

4. After matching an adopter with one of our English Bulldog puppies, we proceed with our detailed puppy preparation and support phase. Every adopter receives complete training materials and guidance designed to ensure the smoothest possible adjustment for their Old Dominion bulldog companion. For our Virginia adopters, we offer flexible arrangement options including our puppy delivery service, where a member of our family will bring your new pup directly to your home. Alternatively, many adopters prefer to visit our home for pickup. Through personal visits or comprehensive phone guidance, we maintain our dedication to helping every Virginia family thrive with their new puppy.

Visit Dog-Friendly Parks: Virginia has several dog parks where your Bulldog can socialize and play off-leash. Some popular ones include Shirlington Dog Park in Arlington and Barker Field in Richmond.

Go for Hikes: Take your Bulldog on a hike in one of Virginia’s many dog-friendly hiking trails. Just make sure to check the trail rules regarding dogs and keep your Bulldog on a leash where required.

Visit the Beach: If your Bulldog enjoys the water, consider taking them to a dog-friendly beach like Cape Charles Beach or Virginia Beach. Just be sure to follow all beach rules and keep your dog safe.

Explore Historic Sites: Many historic sites in Virginia allow leashed dogs on their grounds. Consider visiting places like Colonial Williamsburg or Monticello, Thomas Jefferson’s estate.

Attend Dog-Friendly Events: Keep an eye out for dog-friendly events happening in Virginia, such as dog festivals, charity walks, or pet-friendly brewery events.

Go for a Drive: Bulldogs often enjoy car rides, so consider taking your pup for a scenic drive along the Blue Ridge Parkway or another picturesque route.

Take a Trip to the Dog Spa: Treat your Bulldog to a grooming session or a relaxing bath at a dog spa or grooming facility.

Play Fetch or Frisbee: Bulldogs might not be known for their athleticism, but many still enjoy a game of fetch or frisbee in a safe, enclosed area.

Remember to always check for any specific rules or regulations at the places you plan to visit with your Bulldog, and ensure your pup is up-to-date on vaccinations and is well-socialized for public outings.
