What We Offer

Adoption Process for Our Iowa Adopters

Through years of experience we have developed a tried and true adoption process devoted to matching the correct puppy with their adopter family. We are strong advocates of thoroughly understanding the adopter family dynamic and preferences and guiding each family in the selection process. Successful adoptions are never accidents and ensuring the bulldog puppy and their family are compatible matches is essential.

Steps of Our Adoption Process

1. First Email and Then Verbal Interview – Adoption questionnaires have been the conventional method for dog breeders to review potential adopters, though we’ve learned about their restrictions over the years. Most applicants, regardless of how well-matched they may be, can easily supply the “right” responses on paper. Meaningful evaluation requires a more individualized touch that surpasses what any preset questionnaire can offer. This is why, as English Bulldog breeders, we prioritize quality conversations over the phone with our potential families. Throughout our conversation, we’ll discuss aspects such as your daily habits, household structure, prior pet history, and what you hope for in a furry friend to evaluate whether one of our Bruiser Bulldogs would excel in your environment.

2. Deposit – We require a non-refundable $500 deposit to join our wait list for the next English Bulldog puppy available.

3. Choosing your English Bulldog Puppy – When an adopter reaches the top of our wait list, we initiate the puppy selection process. Before making any decisions, we’ll provide photos of all available English Bulldog puppies along with detailed phone discussions about each pup’s unique temperament and characteristics (our personality assessment process is outlined below). We will explain each pup’s unique personality features, preferences, and special qualities, helping you assess their alignment with your family environment. We know that this can be a difficult decision, so we will provide guidance and recommendations throughout this important selection journey.

*English Bulldog Puppy Personality Assessment – Perfect puppy placement requires insight into each bulldog’s individual character, behavioral preferences, and personality traits. Our evaluation includes detailed observation of play behaviors, social interactions, and natural temperament expressions over extended periods. This comprehensive evaluation process cannot be rushed and requires puppies to reach 4-5 weeks of age before we can accurately assess their distinct personalities. While some adopters prefer to select their puppy as early as 2 weeks old, we respectfully decline these requests. Early selection without proper temperament evaluation is counterproductive and can lead to mismatched pairings, as adopters would be choosing their English Bulldog companion without understanding their future pet’s true nature and needs.

4. Puppy Prep – Following the successful pairing of an adopter to one of our English Bulldog puppies, we move forward with our thorough puppy prep and training. Each adopter is provided with extensive support training and preparation guidance specifically developed to ensure optimal bonding and care. For our Iowa adopters, we offer flexible arrangement options including our puppy delivery service, where a member of our family will bring your new pup directly to your home. Other adopters prefer to visit our home for pickup, allowing for more in-depth discussions about their new pup. While we love getting to meet our bulldog’s new families, we understand that schedules can be hectic and in person meeting may be difficult. Whether connecting in person or through detailed phone support, we maintain our commitment and support to your success as bulldog parents.
